The partnership was created as a result of the UK-Brunei Partnership on Teaching and Learning Workshop and through subsequent online meetings. It is a collaboration between the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE), at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam and the University of East Anglia. The goals are to develop an educational training programme and research project focusing on the development of knowledge and skills of primary school teachers in Brunei to incorporate STEM practical projects into
their teaching. This project aims to improve the education of Bruneian children and have a long term impact on the quality of the workforce and economic growth. It also offers an international dimension to the learning opportunities of Bruneian student teachers.

Seed funding in 2022-23 from the British Council has enabled reciprocal visits and the creation of this website to develop a supportive community of practice.
